Reminiscence (2018) concert band (conducting)

Reminiscence was commissioned by the Minooka Community High School Band Boosters, students, and alumni to commemorate the retirement of director Richard Anderson. As an alumnus, I was honored to be asked to compose this piece. Mr. Anderson played a pivotal role in my decision to pursue music as a profession. He was also incredibly supportive and was always willing to give feedback on my early compositions. I would not be where I am today without him.

The first half of the piece is reflective. I used a lyrical theme with shimmery harmonies to create a sense of memory. The second half is celebratory, featuring a fanfare.

Performance (Premiere): 5/10 by the Minooka Community High School Wind Ensemble (after only 2 secret rehearsals) with the composer (Stephanie Pieczynski) conducting
